St. John--Hubbells offers opportunities for people of all ages to learn more about God, grow as a follower of Christ, and be sent forth by the Holy Spirit. St. John offers the following faith formation opportunities:
Sunday School: St. John offers YEAR-ROUND Sunday school each Sunday morning at 9:00 A.M. We assemble in the Double classroom .
1) an Adult class, facilitated by various adult leaders.
Confirmation: See the 'Confirmation' link at the top of our home page.
'Women of St John' Bible Study: St. John--Hubbells Women's Group, gathers monthly, on the second Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. for Bible study and a brief business meeting.
'Brotherhood' Men's Breakfast & Bible Study: St. John--Hubbells Men's group, called the 'Brotherhood', has gathered monthly for at least 70 years, when St. John belonged to the American Lutheran Church (ALC), a predecessor body of the current ELCA. The ALC encouraged congregations to form 'Brotherhood' men's groups to gather on Saturday mornings for breakfast, Bible study, & fellowship. The 'Brotherhood' at St. John--Hubbells is the only 'Brotherhood' group that still meets in southeast Indiana. The men gather on the second Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the Railyard Restaurant in Sunman for breakfast. The Bible study is led by the pastor and covers the lectionary readings for the upcoming Sunday. A brief business meeting follows each Bible study.
